when all is still

when all is still
and the wood is silent
i tie them
to the boughs and branches
bury them deep
beneath the frozen ground
drown them in deep black waters
just
waiting
for spring
to loose
the bonds
and set my dreams free

emerging

Spring is such a beautiful season - the first bulbs, blossom and buds emerging to defeat the cold, dark Winter. A walk in the woods becomes a magical  journey of discovery, fresh each year.

darling buds

Anglesey Abbey (which, curiously, is nowhere near Anglesey) is bathed in sunshine. The glade of silver birches is stunning, rising above a burgundy carpet of ground cover.

Elsewhere the dogwoods have been cut back, promoting new growth that in due course will lighten the winter gloom. The mild winter just passed has left a dusting of old leaves on the oak trees, jostling for the light in competition with unfurling spring buds.

How marvelous to be here among nature's beauty.
