back in time

Dear Sheddists,

we've booked into the Hotel Alexandra for the duration of our visit to Copenhagen and it's an absolute delight!

Located on Hans Christian Andersens Boulevard, its owners are The Preben Hansen Foundation, a charity established in 1967 by the hotel's founder.  Unlike the ubiquitous international chains plying their trade in cities across the world, The Alexandra is a hotel with a true difference. It's dedicated to Danish Modern design of the 50's and 60's and boasts a collection to rival any outside the museum circuit.

We're staying in the Hans J. Wegner room, which celebrates the work of the legendary, 'Master of the Chair'.  During his lifetime Hans designed over five hundred of them, including the famous 'Mama Bear' chair, two superb original examples of which are to be found in our room.

We'll let the photos do the talking - for the most part they were taken in the hotel reception area and in the Wegner room itself.

Best regards,
