A new arrival

Dear Sheddists,

around 7:00 p.m. last Sunday a small black and white whirlwind hits the House.  Jethro's arrived.

First encounters

Let's wind back the clock toward the start of the month and the wedding of Rob and Robynne, who somewhat foolishly ask me to be their official photographer. It's a role I've not performed for many a year but it's a real privilege to be asked, so with camera-bag duly packed we make our way down to the west country.

En route to the hotel we call in to see Robynne's parents, Mike and Zoe.  Mike breeds springer spaniels and a loud chorus of excited barks greets our arrival.  Zoe clears various dogs from the room leaving just one small, but confident looking puppy. We learn subsequently he's the last of the litter, returned by his original owners whose daughter is unfortunately allergic to him.

The puppy jumps up onto my dear wife's lap and snuggles in comfortably.  She looks down adoringly.

A return trip

The wedding is fantastic and on the way home we talk.  No, it's not practical ... a third dog.. and it's definitely NOT the right time.  And so it is that just a week later we return for young Jethro.  He greets us with wag and a woof and before long he's in the back of the camper-van on the way to his new home.

Settling in

Jethro's been with us less than two weeks, but his impact already far outweighs his diminutive stature.  Strewn across various rooms are a rich horde of garishly coloured soft toys accompanied by all manner of curiously shaped rubber objects.  It looks like nothing more than a bizarre mash-up of some strange psychedelic nursery and an end of year Ann Summers' sale.

Further postings will doubtless follow, but in the meantime here are a few snapshots of the young pup in question.

Best regards,
