the three crowns

and here we are again
past the crack spoon
dripping
black moss
onto still silent figures
reflected
in the broken glassed
floors
and doors that
lead nowhere
but an endless locked circle

the haunting desolation
of dreams etched and fading
across time
the crown has slipped
the sign has flown
but memory
clings fast
to
these decaying walls

playtime

Roscoe is an absolutely delightful puppy and he's settled in so well to the family. We shall ignore his little 'gardening exploits' for the moment - it's time to play with his favourite toy!

lunches with terry

Lunches with Terry are always delightfully fluid.

This one kicked off in 'Primitivo' before we adjourned for a swift pint in 'The Wellington', beloved of Birmingham's real ale sub-culture.  From there it was but a hop, skip and a jump to the subterranean pleasures of 'The Post Office Vaults' and their amazing menu of international bottled beers.

Our final stop was beneath the Snowhill railway arches and some excellent Indian dark lager at 'The Indian Brewery'.  A superb day out indeed!

3-2-1!

One of my more unusual street photography encounters!

I'm in town for lunch with a friend and arrive early to take some pictures of the 'Knife Angel'. Walking across Victoria Square afterwards I bump into a small team shooting a film, and being naturally curious I stop to chat.

It transpires the young man standing next to the legendary, 'Dusty Bin' is none other than Danny Rogers, son of TV presenter Ted Rogers. Older readers may remember the game show, '3-2-1' with it's strangely mesmorising finger signalling. Things seemed so much simpler back then!

The show made Ted Rogers a millionaire, but after its ten year run, which ended in 1988 Ted fell on hard times.  Danny is making a film about his father's rags-to-riches-to-rags story and how it affected his own life. He's in town for a short performance of 'Bin and Gone' and the filming is being carried out by ITV.

Danny is super friendly and I'm sure his father would be very proud of him!
