7 a.m. eternal

The view from the garden of our new home is stunning, even at 7:00 in the morning.

The village in which we now live is steeped in history. Named in the Domesday Book it was at one time owned by Benedictine monks. The Hall opposite was the site of a battle between the Round-heads and the Cavaliers in the English Civil War and the church next to us dates back to the eleventh century. There are several stones from the original transept in our back garden.

We're so much looking forward to exploring both the geography and history of our new environment in the months and years to come!

a special time

We had such a fantastic time on Sunday.  Lucy and Mandy came round with their daughter, Martha. Guinea pigs were stroked, a puppy played endlessly on the lawn with a lovely young lady, cheese, bread and cake were consumed and conversation flowed effortlessly.

Have you ever met people you feel instinctively you've known all your life?  This was one such occasion and thank you for such wonderful, wonderful company!!

playtime

Roscoe is an absolutely delightful puppy and he's settled in so well to the family. We shall ignore his little 'gardening exploits' for the moment - it's time to play with his favourite toy!

roscoe meets hannah and april

"We're coming up to visit this weekend."  Of course the arrival of Roscoe had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the decision of our youngest daughter and her fiancee to call in and see us.

clumber park

It's half-term week and we're off to Clumber Park with our eldest daughter and our three grandchildren.

Inside, there's a huge display of exotically coloured and bizarrely shaped pumpkin to admire in the extensive glass-houses. Outside the grounds bask in warm autumnal sun.
