in the night garden

in the night garden
once more
padding the soft moss lawn
which floats in the dying winter light

purple-headed hellebore
breaks ground
and sharp leaves
pierce the growing gloom
as a church watches over

the path leads home

over the wall

Over the garden wall lies a beautiful eleventh century church. We hear the bells peal on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

missing

St Gregory's Church in Norwich is now a busy antiques centre, but in the narrow strip of garden to its front stands a cherry tree in full blossom, defiant in the face of the bustling commerce within.

The tree is decorated with loving messages, photographs, ribbons and trinkets. A colourful yet poignant memorial to those who are missed.
