aston villa 2 v 2 burnley

A near sell-out crowd at Villa Park is here to see Burnley take on the plucky Villans. Our pre-match entertainment takes the form of a 'keepie-up' contest in which the younger contestants fare significantly better than their elders.

The customary fish and chip lunch consumed we make our way into the stadium for this afternoon's game.  It proves to be a topsy turvy affair. Villa take the lead twice through goals by Anwar El Ghazi and the mighty John McGinn only to be pegged back each time by a determined Burnley squad.

A draw is by no means the worst result in the world and Villa played some really exciting attacking football, especially in the first half. However, we really must master the art of closing out a game when in a winning position or we risk ending up in the relegation zone come the end of the season.

aston villa 2 v everton 0

It's a balmy Friday evening at Villa Park and Sky Sports are here to see us take on Everton,  a talented and well-coached team seeking to break into the Premiership top six. After two defeats in our first two games this is an important match for us.

It's a near sell-out crowd again and in full voice too!  The plucky boys in claret and blue are cheered onto the pitch and it's not long before ecstatic celebrations greet the first goal for Wesley, our new Brazilian striker. Captain Jack Grealish takes a cheekily quick free kick enabling Jota to place a perfectly placed pass in the path of Wesley. His shot hits the back of the net and the crowd are on their feet!

The second half is more tense. Everton press forward time and again but our defence holds good despite a few near misses. And then, four and a half minutes into injury time Anwar El Ghazi pounces on a John McGinn pass to slot home the second. Everton barely have time to restart before the whistle goes and it's our first three points of the season!
