the night calls
sweet scented sun
falls
burnt ochre
crow caws
through gilded seed halls
faded
rape walls
as night
closes in

sharp needles
pierce
the clouds
a prairie of stinging nettles
that hold off
the falling sky
until
it shrouds
them
