so where does time go?

Dear Sheddists,

so just where does time go?

My sister-in-law found these photos whilst clearing out Mattie's house.  Do you recognise that lithe-limbed lothario dressed in fetching 1970's style?  I remember the shirt well. The front bore a badly printed image of Marlon Brando astride an overly-powerful American motor-cycle - a classic pose from 'The Wild One'. I suspect it was manufactured in breach of every intellectual property right then known to mankind, but we were much less concerned about such trivia in those days.

Mercifully, the legs of my trousers are largely concealed, hiding from view a veritable sail's worth of cheap brown material of uncertain origin. Fashionable at the time, a strong wind could see a significant proportion of the population lifted bodily into the air and borne aloft like a fleet of low-flying geese. Worse still was the impact of a decent downpour. Capillary action meant an upward seepage of rainwater, chapped legs and a dampened two-tone darkening of the lower reaches of trousery.

Only the cord Levi jacket retains a small element of cool.  Just a shame I bought the children's size to avoid the imminent EU imposition of VAT.  At least it enabled me to sport the best sun-tanned wrists on the block.

The star of the show, however, sits beside me in the photo on the right.  And she's just as beautiful as the day we fell in love ...

All the best,

remembering mattie

Dear Sheddists,

the girls couldn't make Mattie's funeral so today we had a family lunch in the pub we took her to when she last visited us.

Her photo took pride of place at the top of the table and little Dottie took pride of place in our arms.

I rather think Mattie would have enjoyed watching us all tuck into our puddings!

Love,
