flattened

Another week, another walk with our son, Ben. This time we met a lovely lady called Kyrie and her gorgeous Flat-Coated Retriever, Lucy. It's not often our own 'flattie' gets to meet his own kind so he made the most of it!

hooray for lost and found

 hooray for Santa Claus
and
all the discarded
memories
in the hand-cart to
hereafter

hooray for the easter bunny
and
the little red book
doing the deal
in
fire and fury
futility

hooray for Superman
and
Friedrich Nietzsche
and
JFK's
Dealey Plaza
exit wound
drawing the line
beneath
Marilyn's swirling skirt

hooray to all our dreams
and
dancing round open fire
rave-time
dance-hall
dementia
dubbed up
dread

hooray to freak out
vanishing point
and that one last final hit

as

we

reach

the

wall

lost and found - the sack of potatoes

Hidden away in the darkest recesses of the garage. Forgotten, neglected. And yet something stirs within.

The first etiolated stem reaches out, hungry for light. And another, and another. They grow in silence, draining the wrinkled skin once firm and smooth. The aging mother is all but spent now. Her form disappears beneath the writhing mass as the stems climb ever higher.

au revoir

It's a cold and over-cast end to the week. Fortunately the rain-clouds lift sufficiently for us to get together with Revd. Catherine and partake of some rather yummy cake, all at a suitable social distance of course!

In true Christian spirit Catherine shares some with two passing walkers. A true communion of crumbs.

It's sad to say farewells but we all wish Catherine and her family every happiness in the next stage in their journey through life.
